Asheville: Perfect Weekend Getaway

rv life industries

Even though we live in a top travel destination (Charleston, SC!) we like to get away for a change of pace every once in a while. And with fall upon us, that means cooler temps, and a change of foliage in our mountains. Take a 4-hour trip with us as we explore Asheville, NC!

Where is Asheville?

Asheville is located in Buncombe County and is the largest city in Western North Carolina. Located in the confluence of the French Broad and Swannanoa rivers, it is the states 11th most populous city.

Why is Asheville so popular?

Because it’s located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Asheville is a popular destination for people looking for a mountain getaway. Over the last 10 years, Asheville has become famous for it’ craft beer scene. It has actually been named “Beer City, USA” four time and has been deemed the Beer Capital of the Southwest. There are over 50 breweries and that number continues to grow! Asheville has also become a mecca for artists. With a number of galleries, events and festivals, there is something for everyone. Be sure to check out the Calendar of Events (https://www.exploreasheville.com/event-calendar/) before planning a trip to Asheville This way you are prepared to see all the events they have to offer during your stay.

Biltmore Estates

Asheville is most famous for its Biltmore Estates. It is the largest privately-owned home in the United States and was the vision of George Washington Vanderbilt. It spans over 175,000 square feet (more than 4 acres of floor space!) and has 250 rooms. These rooms include 35 bedrooms, 43 bathrooms and 65 fireplaces. Adjacent to the house are 75 acres of gardens, especially popular in the spring with the abundance of tulips planted. Guest visiting the estate can enjoy outdoor activities like biking, carriage rides, hiking, horseback riding and more. The grounds feature over 22 miles of trails to explore. Christmas time is also a magical time to visit as the estate features a Candlelight Christmas Evening complete with choirs, live musicians and over 45,000 lights and luminaries. Be sure to plan and get tickets in advance as this event sells out quickly. Visit www.Biltmore.Com
