Buc-ee’s fans of the Lowcountry, rejoice! In case you missed the news announced last week, a second Buc-ee’s location will open in South Carolina in Hardeeville. The ever-popular gas station and convenience store chain out of Texas with a cult-like following is already a prized possession off of I-95 in Florence. The second Buc-ee’s location will be located 165 miles south along the same interstate en route to Hilton Head Island.
What to know about the second Buc-ee’s Location in South Carolina
Buc-ee’s is known for, well, it’s famous take on Southern foods and sundries, but it is also known to have just about everything. From kitchen gadgets, to car accessories, to home furnishings, to grills, to smokers, and more, if you want it, you can probably find it there. Not to mention Buc-ee’s out-of-this-world assortment of Southern food staples (pulled pork sliders or brisket sandwiches, anyone?), the numerous buffets generously topped to the brim with delights also offer eclectic dishes as well as the tried-and-true Southern staples. Don’t sleep on the banana pudding! With traditional Nilla Wafers, it’ll knock your socks off.
What we know about South Carolina’s newest Buc-ee’s
With the recent city council preliminary approval of new Buc-ees development in Hardeeville, the grand opening celebration is still a few years away. However, we do know that the company, which was founded in 1982 in Clute, Texas, has 50 stores throughout the southeast. The new Hardeeville location will also be opened 24 hours, same as the others. The chain’s website boasts that it has the “cleanest restrooms in America!” The known cleanliness of its restrooms might have something to do with the well-paying restroom attendant positions, which the company starts at a handsome $20 per hour. Managerial positions begin at $100,000 and go on up. Not to mention, the chain holds the world record for the largest convenience store at the 75,593-square-foot Luling, Texas store. And that’s not all! Buc-ee’s also boasts the world’s longest car wash at 255 feet in length at its Katy, Texas store.
What to know for RVs
Buc-ee’s offers three different fueling options: Diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), ethanol-free fuel, and EV charging stations. With extremely large lots and ample parking, RVers find it easy to navigate within Buc-ee’s lots. Plus, there is tons to see and shop inside the convenience store, and you’ll find most accessories needed for any camping or long-haul travel. As an added bonus, large tractor-trailers are prohibited in the lots, which frees up many of the larger spaces for campers and motorhomes.
