Five Things Dealerships Won’t Tell You About RV Care

Your RV is a complicated thing, requiring special care. And chances are, RV salespeople
don’t want you to know that.

Luckily, RV owners know RV care doesn’t have to be complicated. If you’re thinking about buying an RV, here
are five essential things you need to know about long-term RV care.

graphix-waxCustom Graphics
Require Custom Care

It may sound like something you’d see on a bumper sticker,
but it’s true. Whether you’ve acquired the custom graphics yourself or you
simply inherited them from a previous RV owner because you bought used, custom
graphics require special attention.

The good news is that there’s an easy remedy for custom
graphics: Graphix Wax.
This wax will protect your graphics better than ordinary wax thanks to a
special emphasis on UV protection. And since it’s solvent free, it won’t damage
your graphics’ adherence, either. As any RV owner will tell you: over time,
those small details add up.

Fiberglass Needs
Attention Too

Your RV features a lot of fiberglass, so avid RV sales
representatives may act like fiberglass cleaning is no big deal. They may tell
you that all you’ll need to do is spray it with a hose once in a while.

Unfortunately, it’s not that simple—not if you want to take
the best care of your investment. The good news is that if you use the right
products, as is the case for your custom graphics, the cleaning process doesn’t
have to be complicated, either. And while you can certainly care for your RV by
using a high-quality general RV cleaner like Suds, you can always do more for
an especially vibrant finish. Try some RV
Fiberglass Rubbing Compound
on for size and see if it doesn’t change the
way you view your fiberglass.

Cleaning an RV is like
Cleaning a House

You won’t necessarily bring out a bottle of Mildew Remover in
order to handle a car wash on a Saturday afternoon. So why will you need it
with an RV?

Your RV is more than just a vehicle; it’s a home on wheels.
It’s a living, breathing environment that requires a little bit of extra
attention so that you can continue living and
breathing in that environment—without the odors or health impacts caused by
mildew.

That Sticker Won’t
Come Off so Easily

Really, it’s the dealership’s job to supply you with a used
RV that’s as free of blemishes as possible. But if you must buy a used RV that
still has old stickers and sealants on it, you’ll want to bring in the big
guns.

Specifically, you’ll want to use this Release®
Adhesive & Sealant Pint
in order to slowly—but steadily—remove old
glue. If you want to see how it’s done, check out this YouTube video that
features our products to remove the peskiest of stickers.

You’ll Want Dedicated
RV Cleaning Products

If a dealer tells you that you can use the same old cleaning
products you have laying around the garage in order to maintain your RV,
they’re only half-right. You can use
them. But will you want to use them
once you see the results?

Buy dedicated products designed specifically for your RV
materials if you want your upkeep to go as smoothly (and easily) as possible.
Not only will your Saturday afternoons be a lot easier, but you might just
prove that RV dealer wrong when it comes to RV care.
