RV Driving Games For The Road

ace

If you have an RV, it’s inevitable: you’re going to have to deal with a lot of time on the road. But whether this is a challenge or a fun experience is completely up to you! There are ways you can make driving fun for the entire family if you plan a little in advance. Consider these RV driving games for the road!

Plan Your Games in Advance

With all of the RV packing and vacation planning that goes on, it can be easy to forget about the journey itself. But if you plan your games in advance, it will help your family pass the time.

Sometimes, these games can require some preparation, which is why you should give yourself a few days before leaving to plan. It may require printing out instructions and cards from a website, going to the local dollar store for supplies, or even creating a game yourself. Set a calendar reminder in advance so you remember to gather the materials you need!

The Best RV Driving Games for the Road

The best RV driving games are those that you can play over and over again. Other good options are games that you can play continuously, dropping it whenever you like, and picking back up where you left off again later. Here are some game ideas that are especially good at passing the time:

  • License Plate Hunting. This is one of the most effective ways to make the drive itself part of the game. As you travel along the highway, you’ll inevitably run into cars from different states. Give each child a map and some stickers. The first one to spot a license plate from a new state can then fill in that state with a sticker. Whoever has the most by the end of the trip wins a prize of your choice!
  • The Guessing Game. One player thinks of something (an object, a person, an idea, etc.) and then everyone else has 20 yes-or-no questions to come up with what it is. To involve multiple players, have each player take turns with the 20 yes-or-no questions, tallying as you go. This is a great way to pass the time because it involves the whole family and maintains a sense of suspense!
  • Storytelling. Have a group of players take turns telling a story, sentence by sentence. This is a fun game in the style of “Mad Libs,” which is great for both older and younger players. Older players tend to want to create a more feasible story, while young players are always looking for the silliest concepts. The result engages the imagination of one player while entertaining the rest.
  • Color Counting. Have a “draft” where players can choose the colors of cars they think they’ll see the most. Then, each player is assigned a pad and a pen to tally how many cars of that color they see along the way. This is a fun, free-form game that you can use throughout the entire trip, even during downtime.
